Have been thinking about you all day.
Sounds like she'll be here soon! Yaya!
Ok so i just rang the hospital and this is what i was told:
If i was in REAL labour i wouldnt be able to talk during the contractions i would be panting too much. She said that it takes a while for the cervix to thin and come forward and being my first baby it would take a few days. She told me to have panadol and go to bed. And things should increase in 24-48 hours.
Being my first baby i have no idea if she is right or not..
hun when my BFF went to the hospital for her first bub she told them she NEEDED pain releif and they told her that they only give pain relief to ppl who were actually in labour. Her baby was born an hour later!
if u feel like going in then go. if u want an internal to see how far u are make sure they do it properly with their hands up in ur junk, not with a huge torch and spectulum!
I have been watching this thread all day 1stTime! I'm with Skybie, if you feel the need to go to hospital, then go. The worst that will happen is that they will check you over and send you home!
Too funny, Skybie... I have a mental image of a cluster of MW's crowded around a vagina with a Dolphin torch, arguing about how dilated the cervix is...
Good luck, 1stTime... I'll be checking up on you in the morning!!
... me too, .... goes to show you have lots of us here from a distance who care about you and want to see your mind at ease.
I agree if you feel better in having to go into the hosp then go, and as most here have said only worst thing that can happen is they send you home !! (i'm hoping it's not a long drive though !!)
Thanks ladies. It means alot
I havent the energy tonight, i just feel so drained had a bit of a cry im just so confused as i have no idea whats going on.
And the midwife was asking what i wanted to do, and i just almost snapped at her and said i dont know why not tell me what YOU want me to do.
I'll do what she says have some panadol and go to bed. Hopefully feel better tomorrow or atleast feel worse LOL as she said it was real labour i wouldnt be able to talk... though my mum said she was never like that but anywho..
Night ladies. Ill update in the morning or if i do end up going in tonight xx
... nite, nite and i soooo hope you get some sleep or relief if that's possible xox
hope you get a rest......or a partybabe
Pssh, honey, I got to 9cm and was walking and talking through contx the whole time without realising how far I had progressedThere was no panting me me until after ARM and baby was descending!!
Have been keeping track of this thread with my fingers crossed, and keeping you and the little one in my thoughts. I'm sorry I don't have much advice for you as every pregnancy and labour is sooo different, all I can say is that it very well could be the beginning of something HUGETry and get as much rest as you can, sweetie, if you're in a lot of pain don't hesitate to get yourself up to the hospital/birthing centre and get them to check you out, they can always check things over and send you home if it's nothing, but if it's something, and you're a little bit early, I'd hate for you to miss out on it because the staff are being so dismissive over the phone!! It's your first baby, this is so precious, don't let anybody talk down your concerns or make you feel like you're making a big deal over nothing. Of course it's a big deal!
Best of luck whichever way you go hun, my best advice right now is to rest up as much as possible, if you are indeed going into labour you'll need all the energy you can get, if it's just BH/pre-labour you might be able to get some relief from the pain if you're well-rested. A nice hot shower and a foot rub from DP wouldn't go astray either, babeBest of luck hun!!
Sending birthing baby vibes

I arrived at the hospital in established hard labour and no one really paid too much attention to me as I was still quite chipper and talking. Needless to say they got a bit of a shock when they got around to checking me and I was 9cms lol. It just depends on your pain threshold I guess, not every woman screams and makes a big fuss during contractions. Good luck and hopefully you can manage a decent sleep![]()
Hope all went ok overnight...I wouldn't exactly trust the midwife's advice though...I don't recall ever panting at all during labour, and whilst the contractions were very painful, I was walking around to try and help relieve the pain and still mumbling through them. every labour is different and everyone will feel differing levels of pain and deal with it differently. you're better off going in and getting checked, than suddenly feeling the need to push and have baby in the car! Lol
God it annoys me when they say that, they said that to me with DD1, don't come in yet your waters haven't broken etc, it's your first you could be like this for days, that was 30min before i had her... my waters broke she was out 20min later.
I say go with your instinct hun, if your getting REALLY uncomfortable or worried at home there is no harm in going in, they HAVE to check you, as much as it's a PITA doing the drive in etc if they send you home some times your comfort and state of mind if more important.
If you think you can tough it out at home then thats awesome too!
To be fair the midwives see a lot of women, especially 1st time mums, coming into hospital far too early and getting very annoyed when they have to go home again. There will always be some women who labour fast or never need to pant through contractions, but for most there is a general pattern to labour and it sounds like the midwife is just trying to help 1sttimemumma88 get some rest and avoid the annoyance of going all the way to hospital just to be sent home again.
Hope you got some rest last night 1sttimemumma88 and if things didn't progress overnight then hopefully they will today for you

xx
Isttime, hope you are ok, and managed a little bit of rest..
Hey ladies.
Well it was a whole night of constant backache and contractions, i managed a few hours sleep here and there but my god it was painful. At one point i was going to call my mum but i just wanted to wait and see and of course fell back to sleep!
