We plan to do this, DS loves giving presents so Daddy will take him shopping to buy something for his new brother or sister and we will have a little gift for him from the baby waiting in the hospital. I also plan on having a few little things handy (eg colouring in/sticker book and a few matchbox cars on hand) to keep him happy and occupied while visiting in hospital

We're doing this ... Ziggy will be giving DS a little box filled with playdoh pots and tools, a book and a toy sheep, and that will be a special box which comes out only for him to play with when mummy is feeding Ziggy.

DS will come with a little gift for Ziggy too.

If he realises that Ziggy is too little to have bought him a gift, then he'll also know that he didn't buy/organise the one he's giving, so we don't envisage that being an issue ...

But I don't think he'll be thinking about that, really! I'm not convinced that he understands that we're having a baby at all ... though he is very fond of kissing my tummy at the moment

Cute boy, I think he understand he will have a baby sister/brother.
My friend katty bought her son gift and said newborn brother gave him. The little guy thought for a while and asked "how could he go out and where he get the money?" Smart boy!
