What is the average week, day of birth?

I'm 32 weeks today, and OB has said to be prepared for an early birth.
A work colleague's wife is 40 weeks today....and it is getting me to think: What is the average week and day that these beautiful babies have decided to join us?

    Some of my friends have been 37 & 5 days; 37 & 5 days; 36 and 1 days; 31 & 2 days.
I'd love more of a clue for planning???? Anyone?

Oh it's just too hard to work that one out.

However for me - since every single girl in my family is born on Wednesday (and apparently full of woe!), I could tell WHAT they would be according the when I went into labour!

Oooh, good question! We're talking about spontaneous labour right, because inductions/c-secs I'm guessing will skew the results in favour of earlier?

I've gone into labour both times a few days before 40weeks. I always, in my mind, aimed for a pregnancy to go until 42 weeks - so that I wasn't all disheartened when I didn't go close to 40 weeks (that never happened, but that was my mindset). I'd suggest that, to in your mind plan to go over, but have your bag packed from 37 weeks.

I always thought 40 weeks WAS the 'average'... thats why they put 40 weeks as the EDD, even though we all know that from about 37-38 weeks to 42 weeks is 'full-term'.

So my final answer is 40 weeks

ETA: Jazz was born at 40w1d, I went into labour on the Sunday, she was born via emerg. c/s on the Tuesday.

#2 baby was 39 weeks and a girl, she was born on a Thursday.
