Well, 4 days overdue now and getting impatient already because nothing feels any different. Have some pre-labour pains but it's been like that for a few weeks. I don't feel like I'm going to go into labour or anything anytime soon, I just can't imagine it ever happening!!
So, will it just happen all of a sudden when I'm not expecting it?? Or will I feel somehow different and know that it's going to be soon. I keep expecting to feel different and then feel disappointed that I don't
DD1 - 41+1 - felt no different til I was 7 days over. Had a show that afternoon, but that was it til waters broke at around midnight.
DD2 - 41 - pre labour for about 20 hours...great. Did have thick white CM for a few days before. Looked kinda like clag glue, (TMI)
DS - 39+5 - Nothing. At all. Contractions started at 5.15am, born at 10.15am. No CM, no show, no pre labour, nothing!
Every person, every baby & every labour is different. It will be over soon. Just relax & enjoy your last few hours/days.
Yes, it could. My second labour was like that. I was 10 days over and had not an inkling of anything happening. At all. Nothing.
I went to the loo that afternoon, had quite a bloody show which I was concerned about (because of the amount of blood, my show with my first labour was very different) so called my ob. He said it was fine and just to wait for contractions to start and bam, they started. 5 hours later I was holding my son.
It honestly happened so quickly and was so different from my first labour ('pre' labour for 72 hours, sent home from hospital twice ) I was in denial and the only reason I went to the hospital was because I hadn't felt any movement.
Hopefully your little one will make their grand entrance really soon. Hang in there, I know how hard it can be
My pre-labour signs like you're describing just started to get more intense. It felt like mild period cramping that stopped and started. Then the morning of the day DD was born, the mild upped the ante!
They do say that if you have to ask, you're not in labour (LOL!) and I found that to be true. When your early labour pains become 'true' labour, you know it's on!
For some it happens gradually, for some it happens WHAM!
Either way, it will happen soon enough! I remember it being hard to do myself, but if you can, just enjoy this wonderful free time to relax and read and be absolutely selfish! Cos it will be a long time before you will be able to do it again!
Hey SJ, I had period pain on and off for weeks but that was all, then one morning at 5am after my bladder had me rudely awoken for a toilet run... i started having cx's.
Yep it just happened for me with no warning. I had no inklings at all, hardly any braxton hicks throughout my whole pg. Had a normal day, went to bed as usual and got woken up at midnight by my first contraction. DD was born later that night.
Praying that it all happens very soon, good luck!!!!
As you can see from Skye, it could start any old way!
As a bit of encouragement though, the day before I had #1, I was convinced I'd go daaaaaays over, didn't feel different AT ALL, and was preparing myself for another week or two of pregnancy. So you might not necessarily notice anything. Hang in there, bub can't stay in there forever!
When my best friend was close to going into labour she warned me that she was feeling a little strange. She was getting some weird feelings low down in her belly like nothing she had felt so far. Then she went into prelabour later that night.
Well I didn't get any weird feelings... just MORE tired, MORE grumpy and MORE mucusy!
You're not always sure it's labour - I thought I was having bad wind pain! I was 11 days overdue and had kinda given up on it happening! The only reason I figured it out is because I stopped being able to cope with it being wind (ha!) and I had a bloody show...
Don't worry - it WILL happen (it has to!). The only advice I can give (and you will hear this EVERYWHERE) - relax and go with the flow. There aint nuttin you can do to make it go faster, so you may as well be resigned to waiting. Once you are truly resigned - it will happen!!
Mmmm, one of those 'how long is a piece of string' things hun
For me, I thought it was sudden, my waters broke, an hour later cx started, and DS was born 13 hours after that. But in hindsight, it was easy to see I was going to go into labour, I was soooo out of it that day. Flushed, off with the fairies, I felt like everything was in slow mo, I cried for hours for absolutely no reason. I'd only just perked up about 30 minutes before my waters broke. I think if I had been close to my EDD I may have paid more attention to those signs, but as I was 35 weeks it didn't occur to me that I was about to go into labour.
You just don't know. You could have days of prelabour, or you could be holding your baby by breakfast time. I hope for your sake it's the latter, but whichever it is you're going to do a great job!!!!
ETA From personal experience, I would have to agree that you do know when it's the real deal (although I am aware that it's not always the case for everyone). You really do know when you're in labour!
Nothing special, just started! lol
I think, like Janie, that you do know when it is the real thing.
I think this because I knew it was the real thing lol ( i never had BH and was 41+1) So who knows?
I am sure though that even if you don tknow what the hell is going on, bubba does!
Hold on and enjoy the ride...I reckon you will go so fast you wont know what hit you!!
Thankyou everyone I feel better now about not feeling any different. Now I wish it would just happen!! The effort I put into DTD last night obviously didn't help
Oh, I forgot to mention that my friend thinks that my roasted chicken, tomato and capsicum pasta helped her go into labour. Her labour started not long after I cooked that meal for her
I went for a long walk yesterday and it didn't do anything except make my tummy and leg muscles sore, lol. But I slept well last night for once!! Only had to get up twice to pee, must be a record.
I've been having Acupuncture regularly through this pregnancy and weekly from I think 35 weeks. Last week I went on my due date and was hoping he'd do the induction stuff but he said he would just do a few points and not the full on stuff because the average pregnancy is 41 weeks anyway I really wanted to get things happening!! I'm going to see if I can get another appt for tomorrow but I'm running out of money with all this bloody acupuncture, lol.
Did it start some contractions for you?? Omg Dee how exciting!!!! Good luck!!
