Is your pelvic floor in good shape?

...or...how do you know if your pelvic floor is in good shape?

I've been doing my exercises - sporadically, I will admit, but how do I know if I'm in good shape or if things could be better?

This is my 2nd pregnancy - first birth was forceps delivery and I was a little incontinent for a few weeks afterward (ie couldn't hang on for very long when I needed to go and if I left it too long it was a bit of a race to get my undies off in time) but nothing that I believe was not normal. No problems since.

I've been told that pelvic floor recovery is more difficult the second time round. Just into my 3rd trimester and I'm noticing that I am more often now feeling the need to urinate but there isn't really much there when I go. Not always, but sometimes.

    Soooo.....how can I tell?

I'd say if sex is still good then your pelvic floor is good! Otherwise if you sneeze without tensing your pelvic floor and don't leak, like Laranna says.

LOL i was the same as you!!! I had no idea if mine was good or not i've been doing my exercises everyday since i was like 16 so when i was in hospital with dd the physio came round and cause i'd had a cesar i had to really use my muslces to just sit up. But when i told the physio this she laughed and said what on earth would make you think that you've got some of the strongest i've seen! LOL i was like oh ok i was in shock. Guess cause i did yoga for so long that might of helped too!
