I had imagined the elevated mortality rate for c-sections was skewed by women having emergency caesars for life-threatening conditions! In the same way as women birthing alone in lifts make homebirth seem statistically more dangerous (as that is counted as a homebirth in the stats). I'd no IDEA the risk remained so high even AFTER adjustment for depcat and with elective-only procedures!
