Bun I am so sorry that the birth didn't go the way you had planned. But I think you did an amazing job in very difficult circumstances.

I am so sorry your recovery was so painful, it's hard enough adapting with a new baby!

I hope that was cathartic writing that Bun, I knew you'd had a tough time, but nothing like that! How was your DH through all of it?

WRT doing #2, please keep on top of it, otherwise you could end up with a fissure like me, and that is no fun at all.

Thanks to all for reading my story and for your kind comments. It really was a pretty traumatic experience and not at all what I was expecting but I am coming to terms with it now. Luckily Josh is a gorgeous little boy and is no trouble at all and I am totally in love with him. I guess that helps!

Sequoia - I have just had my 6 week check up and I do have a fissure! Argh!! Just what I needed. I have been given some cream for it. Does it help? How is yours now?

What cream are you using? Rectogesic was the only thing that helped me but it's hard to combine with BF'ing. Mine wasn't treated til DS started sleeping through at 7 weeks, so I would feed him, apply cream, hope like hell the headaches associated with it wouldn't start before I fell asleep, and it would be out of my system by his first feed in the morning.

summerluven started a thread which I tried to find for you called - Anal Fissure, Lovely Dinenrtime Conversation Topic! That was a most helpful thread and lots of good suggestions in there too.

OMG, your DS slept through at 7 weeks old?! My 2 year old DD STILL doesn't sleep through the night!

I have been given Spheriproct (sounds lovely doesn't it?! ) and my OB didn't mention anything about it interfering with BFing. I haven't picked up the script yet but will do so soon and see if it helps. How are you feeling now, does it still give you any trouble?

I used Spheriproct in hospital after pushing DS out, my OB said he'd never seen 'roids so bad in a first time mum, ouch! I think my 'roids turned into a fissure and I used this ointment before the Rectogesic. I also used an anaesthetic cream to numb the pain too. No probs now but I'm determined not to let it get like it did before. Trips to Perth to a proctologist is so not fun.

DS may have slept through at 7 weeks but I'm certainly no jersery cow like you (a total and sincere compliment!), we struggled to BF but got to 8 months in the end and a lot of LC visits, Motillium, pumping and comp feeding. I guess I lucked out on the sleeping but not the feeding.
