Hi ladies -- Thank you all so very much for your kind words
ozziehoffy - I am glad you can relate! Yes I did CalmBirth but I found I was already aware of what I learnt there through reading & researching. I ended up just going with the flow & following my instincts more than anything. I found "Childbirth Without Fear" to be a great read. LOVE your little man's middle name What great taste you have!
blessedmum - I completely agree about the midwives attitude needing to change. Especially the one I got first shift - thank god she left by the time I gave birth because she was really negative & thought I'd be there for days - even said I could go home! lol it's just craaazy the way some of them are! It was like they just think your silly & naive for thinking your in labour. No one knows our bodies like we do! Good to hear you felt similar to me in labour. Everyone's different I guess!
Awesome job! Well done to persevere through such a long labour - such a wonderful reward in the end!
I came to this birth story via your post in the thread regarding private obstetric vs midwife care. I also birthed at Norwest, a week or so after you! DD was early and wish I had a printed birth plan as it all happened too quickly and I only managed to articulate that I wanted a drug free birth - not the delayed clamping, physiological third phase etc. Next time!!!
