thanks for sharing Sharon. And he is sooo cute - I love those cheeks!
On Friday 18th April my Ob agreed to induce me as I was in so much pain because of my VERY heavy belly, and felt like I had been riding a horse constantly for a month.
Went in Monday night for gel to be inserted, and after the midwifes had done a CTG on bubs and decided that he was fine and we could proceed, the gel was inserted at 11pm, and I was told that my cervix was 1cm dilated. 30 mins later I started getting pains, not too bad, just uncomfortable. at 12am they moved me into a delivery room, and my contractions where getting stronger, MW checked cervix at 12.10 and I was told I was 4cm (yay), it was at this point in time that I realised I was going to be having my bub before sunrise, at 12.40am felt this strange 'pop', (kind of like what you would feel if you had to pop a joint back in after it had been dislocated) there was no gush though so didn't think it was my waters breaking, got up to go to toilet, and fluid started to trickle out, went to toilet and noticed my "bloody show" as I was heading back towards bed more fluid was leaking out so I buzzed MW who then confirmed that yes my waters had broken. Contractions then started to come thick and fast, and very strong, DH and I where left alone and was told to buzz them if I felt pressure, at 1.25am the contractions stepped up even more and then the unbearable pressure started, MW came in and checked cervix, I was told that I was 8cm dilated and to just go with my body, after another 5 mins I was told that if I feel the need to push to just go with it, which I did, can't remember how many pushes it took but all I can remember is thinking that I was going to die LOL, at 1.46am on Tuesday 22nd April my gorgeous boy entered the world, completely drug free, and an intact perineum (woohoo), he weighed a healthy 4840gm (10lb 10oz) L 53cm and HC 38cm I am very proud of myself for not going for the gas as soon as contractions started, as when I did decide I wanted some it really was too late as 5 mins later I was pushing.
It was an amazing experience, but I am very glad to say, one that I WILL NOT be doing again as this is definitely our last bubba.
