The mention of Labetalol reminded me that at one point during my third pregnancy i was switched to Labetolol as my other meds werent lasting me the entire day, so i was put on 1 x 100mg tablet 3 times a day (300mg a day), but as soon as baby was born i was switched back to my old BP meds.
Did you need to start taking meds early on in your pregnancy? No, i was on them before i fell pregnant.
What dose did you take? I take 25mg twice a day of Metoprolol and when on the Labetolol 3 x 100mg a day.
Did you have BP problems prior to falling pregnant? Yes, i have renal artery stenosis and had half my right kidney removed when i was 16. Before the surgery i needed 3 seperate BP meds to control my BP, they hoped the operation would get me off of all of them but i still have high BP which is thankfully controlled by only one med now. Every time they try to take me off of them though my BP goes back up so it looks like i have to take them for life.
Did you take meds afer bubs was born? Yes. Normally my BP goes up around 36 wks and absolutely haywire for a few weeks after the birth while my hormones settle.
How long for? I dont get off of them.
Like the PP, I, too have to have lots of ultrasounds to check babys growth and placental and umbilical function. I have had quite little babys with 3.2kg being my biggest out of 4 but that may also be my build. My babys have been 2.7kg (6pd), 3.2kg (7pd3), 3.2kg (7pd1), 2.5kg (5pd5). Just over 7 pd seems to be my biggest i can have.
