hi & welcome to BB!
we did a combination of baby led solids (BLS - which is the sort of thing your health nurse is talking about) & some spoon feeding. there's a section of the forum dedicated to BLS & a general chatter thread about it - Baby Led Solids - it's a good place to get started if you're interestedbabies may gag (different from choking) on some foods but they won't choke if they're the right size (like fingers) & cooked till soft.
at 6 months i wouldn't be overly concerned about whether or not your DS is eating vegies - i know there's theories that you try & give them vegies first so they don't have a taste for sweet things like fruit, but i know my DS wasn't keen on vegies but has come to enjoy them more as he's got older (he's 2.5 years).
i think the best thing you can do is not to stress too much (easier said than done, of course!) - your DS is still little & it's mostly about experimenting at this age because milk is still his number 1 source of nutrition.
and please don't feel like you're getting everything wrong, we all learn on the job as we go along! and there are lots of different ways to do things - many of which are about personal preference rather than a right way or a wrong way![]()
