I was on Zoloft when BF DD2...from what I know, it's one of the safest ones to be on, both during and after pregnancy....
My counsellor has recommended I see my dr and get a prescription for antidepressants to help deal with stuff at the mo including anxiety.
I'm still bf DD and I want to continue.
Does anyone know of any good antidepressants that are safe or considered safer while bf please?

According to my shrink, Zoloft is the safest during pregnancy and BF.

Thanks mummies. I've managed to get an appointment with my GP at 5.30 pm today so I'll update you ASAP on what she thinks etc.
I saw my GP tonight and ended up having a long consultation.
We made a plan including taking Lexapro for anxiety and a bit of depression. I feel relieved that there is a plan in place and that I may start to feel better in a few days.
Going to move this to the breastfeeding forum.
If you're interested in chinese medicine / other therapies to help you through depression, THIS is a really good article on how they approach postnatal depression.

Well an update. The Lexapro is having some effects but the side effects aren't fab.
I ended up calling Rodney White last week and he was brilliant and so very helpful and knowledgable. I'm reviewing the meds with my dr tomorrow night and may change them to Pristiq as recommended by Rodney.
Does anyone have experience with Pristiq please?
I just went on lexapro too after having a chat to Rodney white he was a great help and very reassuring what were your side effects?? Sorry bit experience with pristique
It's affected my motivation for special cuddles as well as making me feel foggy. I can get over strong feelings faster and don't ruminate as much but it's the special cuddles that are the main issue.
