Best (quickest) way to heat EBM for middle of night feed?

It's my birthday soon and I'm planning on getting DH to do DD's middle of night feed. My problem is, it takes a while to heat a bottle, and once she wakes she wants her milk straight away. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know it's a no no to use the microwave, but would it be ok just this once, so long as DH is very careful to make sure it heats evenly and doesn't get too hot?

see if she actually cares about the temperature before you worry about heating. if she doesn't mind if its a bit cooler then it will be faster.
Also, split it into two smaller bottles - each one will heat faster than a single big one.

Put the bottle into a pot of hot water to bring it up to a warmer temp. Microwaving isn't good, not only because it kills the nutrients, but also because it heats the milk unevenly.

Will you need to get up to express during the night for your own sake?

You can leave freshly expressed milk at room temp for 6 - 8 hours after expressing. Leaving it on bench instead of fridge will cut down the heating time.

Yep... I would just express before you go out or have a drink or whatever your planning, then leave it out. It'll be fine if it's not too hot in your house.

I also used to leave it on the bench before I went out or to bed if I knew it would be used in a few hours time. My boys were happy to drink it at room temp too, so I never had to worry about heating at all.

We did pretty much all our EBM at room temp, try it that way first - if she likes it warmer it will still be quicker to heat than if it's been in the fridge.

I agree with all the PPs. My DSs would both drink EBM straight from the fridge so heating might not even be necessary.

Thanks guys. It never occured to me that it might not need to be heated! Will tell DH to put the kettle on to boil and at the same time try giving it to her at room temp. That way if she won't take it, the hot water will be ready to start heating.

Jennifer, thanks for thinking of me! 'Middle of the night' is usually not till about 4 or so, so I'm hoping I will be able to hold out for a few extra hours!
