Well, ladies, I've never posted a woohoo before... but I just can't help myself! I have had two breast reductions and limited breast feeding success with my first two kiddies, both of whom were primarily FF. I did manage to BF my second bub until 12 weeks, more for comfort than nutrition and he then weaned himself (I'm still proud of that effort though!).
Anyway, Miss P is only 5 weeks but I feel confident we have established a strong BF relationship. I received limited support from the MW's in hospital, suffered the normal sore and cracked nipples and had a million doubts about my supply BUT I can honestly say Miss P is receiving about 70% breast milk and a couple formula top-ups as required. My supply is great compared to my previous experiences (thanks to Motilium and education!) and Miss P truly seems to love the breast.
It's still early days, but I was determined to do it and together Miss P and I are on our way to achieving a long and loving BF relationship... so WOOHOO to me and to Miss P!
wooooohooooo to you both!!!!!
Heres to a long and happy BFing journey for the 2 of you. nickle730 you should be incredibly proud of yourself- well done hun
Thank you, ladies. Although, I think I jinxed myself! We are away at the holiday house and I realised yesterday I picked up the wrong packet of Motilium I don't have enough to last me until we go home next Saturday. Have reduced my dose from 80mg to 30mg to try to maintain a supply so Miss P doesn't give up on the boob! Expressed after this mornings feed and got 130mls... I see a lot of boobie time and expressing in my future!! Small country town, no chance of a doctor's appt and the one pharmacy probably doesn't carry Motilium anyway!! Bugger...
Best of luck hun. You have done so well this far I hope you make it through the week. As you say, lots of feeding is important and you might need to express as well. Also lots of skin to skin contact will get the milky hormones going. The good news is that you should be able to build your supply up easily once you get back if it does drop. I have my fingers crossed for you.
