Sometimes when we change DD in the morn there is a nice big sloppy one waiting but if she does it before any of her night feeds I never notice so there it stays unless she's obviously smelly, leaking or upset.
AF recently returned for me too, at 8 months. But she barely made an appearance, was very light and wishy washy and only lasted a few days.
So I've posted about this already in it's own thread but I've had an awful tummy bug- the worst of it didn't quite last 24 hours but I've had my first milk supply issues since when my milk was late coming in after birth. I've lost 3 kilos, I'm already small so there wasn't much give there anyway, I'm eating now but for 12 hours couldn't eat or drink a thing without chucking, and for 24 could drink but not eat much. DD is fighting with the boob because she's used to quite a fast flow and now that she has to work harder for it she point blank refuses to stay on long enough to drink properly, thus help build up my supply again. I'm drinking Weleda boob tea, drinking lots of water and *trying* to eat normally again but it's hard because at her age she's already dropped a couple of feeds and only wants to go on the boob if absolutely necessary. I wouldn't be so impatient if i wasn't having a weekend without her on the 17th - I had been pumping to build up a stash of EBM but I don't quite have enough yet but now with this bug I can't really pump anything.
Don't let it stress you out ladylove - when DS1 was 4 months, I had to have suurgery, and I wasn't allowed to eat anything at all the day before, and was fasting completely from miand had to have some treatments which completely cleared out my digestive system, intestines, bowel etc, and I had to fast completely from midnight, and then I was under general anaesthetic for several hours for the surgery, and *then* I was on a fluid only diet for three days.
Still managed to exclusively breastfeed during that time.
The afternoon after the surgery, my milk was almost clear and was vaguely blue because it was so thin, but we powered through it - you'll be fine. It will thicken up soon.
Thanks peanutter, that means a lot. I think things are improving- I felt a letdown while out and about today in between feeds and my boobs feel slightly fuller. I know fullness isn't an indicator of supply but it sure is comforting.
Any advice regarding teeth and bf'ing? DS (4mos) is getting his first toothy!! Seems I have another early teether. He's an unhappy little man at times and refuses to latch. Do I just ride it out? Try and feed him when he's happy, rather than wait til he's hungry? Will anything change with his feeding once the tooth pops through? It's pretty close to cutting.
Also, at just on 4 months, DS has gone from a birth weight of 2.8kgs to 7.1kgs
OMG Charlotte that weight gain is impressive! DD weighed 7.6 at 8 months!
As for the teething, DD's first two were out by 5.5 months but for a good while before she was just as you say- not wanting to latch etc. I just rode it out. Sometimes it seemed like she was barely drinking anything in a day but I had to learn to trust she'd take what she needed. Maybe just that and no more, but enough. Then eventually things righted themselves.
bottom teeth had no impact on feeding. normally babies tongue covers their bottom teeth when feeding. top teeth can be more stingy cos they are sharp little things. its a good reminder to pay attention to attachment.
I had no issues with bottom teeth. He seemed to nibble a little as first top tooth was coming down and is doing the same now cuz the second top tooth is coming down.
I have noticed with the top tooth that depending on the position his top tooth digs in a bit and can leave an indentation mark lol not super painful but a little uncomfrotbale at the time.
Oh sorry Charlotte I thought you meant fussiness with latching, not latching technique- we've had no problems with DD's bottom front teeth, the top are cutting through at the moment so not sure how they'll go in that respect.
I haven't had any issues with DS's bottom teeth but when he was teething he bit me a lot. Mainly when he was coming off.. He hasn't done it for a while now, thank goodness.
I am so excited, now that DS isn't having NG feeds I can donate my surplus EBM I feel so happy I can do this for another Mama and baby
DS's top teeth are giving me grief. Bottom ones are fine, but the top fronts rest on the top of my nipple when he gets sleepy and leave little indentations.

Well, our perfect run is over We've been breastfeeding over 21 months now, and I have been very very lucky to have had no issues at all. Until now. I've gone and given myself a massive blocked duct! D: D: D: When I feed at home I usually just pop my breast out the top of my shirt if I'm wearing a singlet, and this afternoon I got lazy and didnt make sure my right was completely out. And never noticed that my tops were a bit tight along the bottom of it. Just put DS to bed and noticed a MASSIVE hard lump on the underside of it I've fed him from that side and tried to massage it as best I could while he was feeding and its a bit softer. Can I massage it while he isnt feeding? Whats the best technique? What else can I do to try and stop mastitis coming? I am so devo, we have had a 100% perfect run until now!! I am so stupid!
Hope it feels better soon. I had my first nipple damage with DD1 not long before she turned two. Was so frustrating! But it did heal okay in the end and she bf for another two years.
DD2 is turning into a toddler, still bfing plenty, but clearly dropping off a bit during the day and eating so much more. She's caught me unawares coming off in an ouchy way in the last couple of days (distracted ) but she cries if I even flinch! She's a bit sensitive like that. So there won't be any biting here, she gets too upset if she hurts me!
DS2 has started doing that annoying slap - like thing, where they turn their head and come off suddenly without loosening suction. Ouch!
He also has this habit of grabbing my boob/nipple, pulling it out, inspecting it, then shoving it back in his mouth. I am keeping his nails pretty short until he grows out of that one!!
Just wanted to drop in quickly and say that our bf is still going well, Mack is still chunking up (not chucking), and is looking so much like he wants our food, that TODAY we started him on cereal! He thougt it was okay, but wanted bb fairly quickly.
