ok.. so occasionally my little miss is starting to go longer periods without a feed so I am getting full and uncomfortable. If I dont express then she tends to get ALOT of fore milk which makes her gassy.
So i have been expressing 40-50ml to reduce that from one breast only so she still gets the thirst quencher type milk..
my issue is what do i do with it? if i freeze it all together for JIC then she will mainly get a bottle of foremilk which i doubt would be nice nor filling for her... is it ok to express at the end of her feed (hind milk) and mix it together? rather then waste 50ml?
The 50ml is very very clear watery milk so i know its def the foremilk
another idea is bm is so full of goodies you can use it stuff not just drink it. eg put a shot of it in her bath indtead of soap, or save to put on a cut or rub it into her head if she has cradle cap.
better than wasting it
i wonder if the expressing is maybe creating an issue that might have resolved if baby just fed at the breast? maybe tag in Barb or ask an LC for advice. Maybe something like block feeding could help with changing the milk composition??
I'd freeze it and use it as a back up feed for in case you need to go somewhere without her. It may not be completely filling and satisfying, but it'd be better than nothing if you weren't around. You can always do a 'proper' feed when you get home.
