It just sounds ridiculous, as a mother who fed for 6.5 months and had all the support in the world - ABA, lactation consultanta, midwives, tresillian, family etc I could not have kept feeding my baby till she was 1. She would have ended up sick as had stopped feeding from severe reflux and the pain association with my BB's! She was losing weight at an alarming weight and she even stopped growing in length. I was at my most vulnerable at this time and having to stop feeding her was a huge contributing factor in my developing PND.

Doing this would just put more pressure on mothers who are trying their best!
And I think that most women really do want to breastfeed their babies - handout or not. I don't think an incentive would inspire most to do it anymore than they already want to. I really think most women desire to feed their babies and it is not lack of desire that stops it from happening.
