DD does it, to me its an indication shes done and i remove the food, i ask her if shes done and she can (and has been able for quiet a while) say 'done' , meal time over!
when my DD throws her food on the ground, its a sign for me she's had enough, cause this is a little girl who doesn't muck around with her food - once she's thrown some on the floor, i say, all finished and she nods and smiles
DD does the same J. She's usually full. I now put a tub on the right of high chair so it's straight into that for the chooks saves a mad clean up. They also have vinyl mats at woolies called muck mats. They are pretty good if your DS throws in random directions.
They do grow out of it. My DD is now almost 18 months and says "no" when i ask her if she wants anymore. It has saved alot of food being thrown on the floor. Every kid is different obviously.. this is just one of the joyous phases lol
