I feel like she's ripping my nipple off

For the past 3 days, the nipple on my left has been extremely sore whenever I bf DD. I've checked her attachment, positioning etc, and it all seems ok. I'm not engorged at all. So what could it be? I'm really dreading every time I have to feed her from that side, it almost brings me to tears. Any ideas? The right is fine, only the left.

ROFL, i looked at your ticker and saw Emily is nearly 3 and thought 'wow! It still hurts after feeding for that long?' LOL. Then i realised you probably meant Ambah....

No real idea about why it could be hurting, any chance it could be thrush? What kind of pain is it? Like a graze pain, or deep inside pain? If its bringing you to tears its worth investigating further with an LC if possible.

What is thrush like? It's like a graze pain, not deep inside. When she's feeding, the only way I can describe it, is like she's trying to rip it off. It hurts so much.

thrush is more of a deep stabbing pain. If its a graze kind of pain i would try some lansinoh on it and try and rest it up a bit for a few days, feed more from the other side, your supply should be established enough to handle it by now and you could rebuild it by doing the opposite when your nipple has healed some more?

Hope you are feeling better soon! When i was having probs wih my right nipple the ABA suggested i wean DS off that side all together, i decided not too in the end and am glad i persisted because the pain did stop eventually, DS still prefers my other side though!

Does she comfort feed or suckle a lot on that side? DD does it with one side of mine and i get the same pain you described

If so, i was told to feed first from the sore side then switch to the opposite side when they generally with just suckle for a bit while they feed

shell - come to think of it, she does prefer that side moreso than the other. Might do what you suggested and see how we go.
