DD2 is 2.5 weeks old and we had two bad nights of very unsettled behaviour and lots of wind pain with her just three days ago. Since birth, DD2 has been a very placid, settled baby and really doesn't cry all that much! So you can imagine I was wondering where on earth my quiet little newborn had gone! The next morning Mum suggested I cut out caffeine and chocolate in my diet immediately. I stopped my chocolate () and no teas/coffees or coke for me. Since then, DD2 has been much happier of an evening and we've had really good nights where she wakes, feeds, burps, and back to sleep within an hour!
Now I have a feeling this is what upset DD1 too when she was a newborn, but I never made any conscious efforts back then to avoid certain foods, I figured it would all work itself out. Whereas this time around I'm more conscious of the foods I'm consuming and how it may/can affect DD2's behaviour.
Besides caffeine and chocolate, what foods have you found upset your bub?
I understand it's about trial and error and elimination to see what works and what doesn't..... my friend told me that her midwife told her to increase protein in her diet, so like chicken and eggs etc helps with settled babies too.....
any other ideas? Advice?
