Is it possible that she has reflux? The screaming might be the pain of the acid coming back up again, and I've heard (from my friend who's bub has reflux) that they then may want to feed more and more as the milk going down soothes the burning feeling.
Just a suggestion though... I don't really have any idea as we haven't experienced this. We just have nasty tummy pains long after a feed which result in great big noises at the other end!!! Might be worth getting it checked out however. My friend's bub ended up on reflux meds which she was reluctant to use at first, but now has a much happier, more relaxed baby - and thus, a happier more relaxed Mummy!
It's so stressful, you poor love. First of all, just remember that she is brand new and wind is a very common issue when they're so young. You may find that she improves within the next few weeks.
All my babies have suffered bad wind in the beginning. For DS2 Infacol before each feed was an absolute life saver. With DD I discovered that stopping and burping her every 5 minutes during her feeds made the world of difference.
Do you have a dummy? They can really help with wind pain too and may solve the issue where she wants to suck, but too much milk is making the wind worse. Even if you only used a dummy for a week or so (if it works of course ) to get you through this stage.
I took my DD to a paediatric chiro last week and three days later her wind issues really settled down. That might be something worth looking into if nothing else works?
You're doing a great job and this phase won't last. I hope you both get some relief soon .
