    Where do you get brewers yeast from?

    I got mine from a health food store (the flaxseed as well), but you can also get it from Big W in the home brewing section.

    This batch I used a combo of dry brewers yeast from Woolies and fresh brewers yeast from DH's brew trub (he saves it for me) I used glace cherries, chocolate chips, desiccated coconut and cocoa to make them Cherry Ripe flavoured.

    My boobs are spraying like a fire hose. I am waking up wet in the night in a way I haven't since the early durly days. They are mental.

    I haven't had an increase, my supply has actually dropped a bit but I think that that is because the night that I made them my wisdom decided that enough was enough with the peasized cavities and had me in agony so I didn't get to express much over the next few days... but, I have noticed that my milk is creamier after eating them (eg I get more hind milk than normal whereas normally I have HEAPS of foremilk and only a small amount of hindmilk) and I think they are helping a little bit in my attemps to get my supply back up too (I can feel letdown a lot more now than I used to before eating them).

    Oh that combo sounds really nice I'll have to use that!!
    It's hard to tell if they worked for me as my boobs are full a lot today as I haven't been expressing due to the boys being 100% breastfed now and they only drink around 50ml each every 3-4 hours where I was expressing 3 times that

    Nikkie - Maybe try expressing after feeds as well? That way you can put it in the freezer for emergencies? that way you'll know if it's working or not

    Sorry, I cant help laughing with that image in my head! I "see them" going crazy, flip flopping every which way, like high-pressure hoses....pelting the wall, the door, everything....

    They must be great cookies

    With such good results alluring to a "fire hose" I'm hoping these will fix my problem!

    After having nothing but dramas in one field or another for either myself or our little one since she was born...my milk supply is almost non-existant since I've had the flu (now disappearing) so fingers crossed I can at least turn in to a garden hose

    Smile lactation cookies

    Lactation Cookies

    * 1 cup butter or marg
    * 1 cup sugar
    * 1 cup brown sugar
    * 4 tablespoons water
    * 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal (can be found at any local health food store)
    * 2 large eggs
    * 1 teaspoon vanilla
    * 2 cups flour
    * 1 teaspoon baking soda
    * 1 teaspoon salt
    * 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
    * 1 cup or more chocolate chips/sultanas/almonds (whatever takes your fancy)
    * 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast* (be generous)

    Preheat oven at 180C. Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended. Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips. Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.

    Bake: 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.
    Serves: 6 dozen cookies
    Preparation time: 15 minutes

    * Don't substitute brewer's yeast for anything else... that's what makes 'em work!
    * Raw dough works 10 fold apparently and tastes very very yummy!
    * Remember to keep your water intake up, this can make a difference with supply.

    I've created a poll, I don't know how scientific it will be since you are probably all eating varying quantities - 1 bowlful or 3 LOL. But just something to get an idea.
    Hi, Sorry im new to this forum stuff. Just made lactation cookies they are amazing!!! Thanks.... Just wondering how many per day i would need to eat for them to work effectivley.... my supply is getting lower and lower by the day Hope they work!!! I will be sure to let you know.

    No luck?

    I baked the cookies over the weekend....wish I could say I got to eat all of them but I had to wrestle with my lovely other half and the surrogate Uncle of the house. I did still eat a fair portion of the ones I baked but haven't noticed any change in my supply at all........just wondering if any one else has come across this or if I'm just an entire odd ball

    I eat two per day if I need boosting. Today I ate 4. Just because they're yum. I always boost my fluid intake too though, and keep baby pinned to the boob all day.

    I also read somewhere that having baby next to your boobs all day - in a sling or similar - can help too.

    Apple cinnamon variation:

    Use 1 tsp cinnamon instead of vanilla
    Use 1/2 cup chopped dried apple and 1/2 cup sultanas. I also added 2 tbsp stewed apple, just because I had it there. Lovely and moist. Boobs spraying as usual.

    I finally got around to cooking some last night! Can anyone say "yummy!!!!"? I might add some more choc chips to the leftover mix though, it didn't seem quite enough to satisfy my chocolate addiction
