Prama, I have used Motilium with great success. It works best though in conjunction with the good old supply = demand situation. Basically, feed baby as often as you can, somewhere around 8-12 feeds/24 hours. Obviously you're still pretty sore ATM, so feed as much as you can possibly manage, building it up as things improve. Don't stress if that's not alot at this stage. Certainly express where possible, but your baby will do a better job of draining the breast, so is better at building your supply up. And feeding instead of expressing saves you all that sterilising!

To start with, I really relied on the Motilium, without adding the extra feeds. It helped somewhat, but was not the magical answer I'd hoped for. It was only when I started feeding more frequently that my supply really increased. I think you can expect it to take up to two weeks to work. What dose are you taking?

Hopefully, once you are through this rough patch you can SLOWLY wean off the Motilium, and find that your supply is still great.

I would really recommend seeking the advice of a LC, if you haven't done so already. They will be able to help you better with all your questions.

Don't doubt that you are doing a fabulous job hun. We had months of problems with BF, but I can honestly say that it was well worth perservering. BFing my DS now is a wonderful experience, I am so glad I stuck it out Don't expect that Motilium will fix things overnight - it won't. But it might help, and with the hard work you are putting in I'm sure you will succeed and overcome these hurdles

Good luck, and don't forget that we're all here to help!

Kristy J, as far as I'm aware, Motilium has been used to increase prolactin levels for years in NZ, long before we were using it here. Just thought that might help you in your search.
