After about 8-12 weeks some babies go several days between poos - even a week or more. the longest I heard of and the baby was perfectly healthy was 30 days! Breastmilk is so perfectly suited to your baby's needs that there is literally no waste.
But, remember, this information is for onlder babies. In the first 6-8 weeks infrequent poos is a bit of a red flag. It is the commonest sign the baby is not getting enough milk. No need to panic - but it is something that needs to be looked into. It's usually easily fixed.
Sometimes you get people telling a mum of a newborn it's OK if he doesn't poo for several days. Not good advice.
Babies keep us on our toes - just when we think we've worked it out - it all changes
Barb he didnt do his first mec poo in hospital till the day we left so that was day 4 and he stopped doing them at night by about week 6 cause he was sleeping alot....he went this morning but not abig one like usual...do you think thats ok? He has heaps of wet nappies and feeds alot plus he is a big kid 6.8kgs at 10 weeks????
We went 10 or so days at one stage unfortunately, now with solids she is pretty regular and those are SO ick... My DD seems to like standing up to do it so always pulls up on the couch or something!
Amber, DS2 is very similar. I used to worry about it because my first two would poo every day, more than once. But now realise that's just him. He usually goes a few days in between poos, but sometimes more often.
