Hey guys just wanting to hear your ideas and experiences....
DS has been exc BF from birth - never had dummy or bottle EVER! Loves his thumb and my booby
Anyway, I am hoping to work a couple of days a week from feb and my mum and DH will have bubs. So I got the pump and thought it would be great DH can feed him I'll sleep AWESOME, Right??? NO WRONG!!!!!!!
The expressing part was fine - no probs, plenty of milk, all good. But watching DS have a bottle was really really upsetting to me.... I kept crying as I saw my little guy drinking without me. I don't think he really liked it either, he has to learn to drink to from the bottle though, but he was trying to suck like a breast. I will have to persevere which is fine and I know DS will get the hang of it. It was his first time with bottle and I am not really worried about that side of it cause I know he'll get used to it etc. DH looked at me and said 'do you want to feed him from the other side ?(that hadn't been pumped)' I said yes, and as DS was in my arms I felt complete again...
It took us a long time to get our little man and I really treasure each moment we have. Love him so much. I know he will be fine - it's me that is the mess!!!
Also, I haven't had AF since he was born and don't want to even think about weaning till 12 months. But given we had to have IVF to get DS I am realistic that it may be the case again. DH and I are going to try a la natural cause if one thing BB has taught me is IT CAN HAPPEN and IT DOES HAPPEN!!! How have people gone with TTC while BF???
I hope this makes sense! Thanks for your help girls!

Rach, I know exactly that feeling! I had expressed for DH to feed DS when he was younger as I had to pop out for a short time, and when I got home DH was feeding him and it just wasn't right watching him feed from a bottle! It's such a special time feeding, that I can understand not wanting to miss a second of it.
Can't help you with the breastfeeding/TTC question. I got AF back after 3 months even though I was exclusively breastfeeding and even though we are TTC again already, that means nothing given it took so long last time. There is a TTC while breastfeeding thread somewhere that you may be able to get some more info from.
Good luck with TTC again. Hopefully you wont need IVF again (We did 6 cycles with no luck - 2 early m/c, and ended up getting our BFP naturally, so it definitely does happen!)
Rach, at that age, he can probably drink from a sippy cup also. That might be easier than teaching him to drink from a bottle and perhaps easier to watch also. Neither of my boys would drink from a bottle, but both were drinking from a sippy cup by about 4 months.
You might find that AF comes back once you start work. Mine came back at 7 months with DS1 (just before I went back to work actually), and at 6 months with DS2. It is so different from mum to mum - some get AF back as soon as their baby starts sleeping longer at night, and others go well over a year without her. GL!
oh i know that awful feeling watching your baby drink without you, it was suggested to me very early in the piece that i should express and bottle feed dd so i could enjoy her more (we had some bf issues) this lasted all of one feed because i couldn't stand it
there are some teats out there i am unsure of the spelling so will do it phonetically ... heyberman ... or something like that. my LC said they are the closest teats to help replicate the breast. they aren't cheap though but Medela make them if your interested. http://www.medela.com.au/AU/breastfe...eedsfeeder.php i found a picture of the teat - don't worry about the bottle bit its the teat that i want you to see.
Thanks guys it is nice to know I am not alone!
Manta - I think its a great idea. Might try sippy cup instead, he needs to use one anyway right?
Megan - goodluck with number 2 hun, I love hearing of stories like yours - it can happen! Your little guy is gorgeous! We will have similar approach to you with ttc #2 not doing anything to stop it and see what happens before going back for our frosties!
Nae - I know it is heartbreaking to watch hey? I have Tommy Tippee closer to nature which looks like nipple too. I think it was just cause it was different to mummy IYKWIM. Your little girl looks precious!
Thanks again girls

Hi just wanted to tell you that you are not alone, i never ever watch my bubba feeding from the bottle i get way too emotional, the aba actually recommends that if bubba has to have a bottle that u leave the room as they can get confused if they can see u and are having a bottle. I dont like seeing my milk in bottles either i bring it home from work and give it to DH and he does the freezing etc. I still have the colostrum that i expressed prior to giving birth in the freezer just can't bear to get rid of it DH said to me the other day surely this needs to go in the bin it would be past its use by date i screamed at him to leave it alone i am just not ready.
On the other topic we took three years and one miscarriage to conceive DD1 and we weren't trying at all to conceive DD2 i had a broken leg and we weren't ready at all, AF was only back a couple of months and low and behold i was pregnancy i was still breastfeeding DD1!!! So it can happen, u just never know what your body is capable of!
We use the tommee tipee close to nature with both of ours and they seem to like them, took a little bit of time for both to get used to them but eventually they worked it out although the sipper cup is probably the best idea if you can!
