Have you seen a lactation consultant to talk about your first experience and draw up a plan of attack for this time?
When your baby latches on, it will suck and draw the nipple out. Mine were inverted before I breastfed and DS managed ok (we did have some attachment issues and used a shield for a while, but I' mnot entirely certain what the problem was).
I wonder what support or help you had first time round? Sometimes midwives etc will fob off mothers with problems by telling them their boobs are too big or their nipples too flat or whatever, when sometimes there is some other problem that could be solved with the right advice and help. Obviously I don't actually know how it happened for you, but unfortunately a lot of mothers really don't get good help.
