Hi all this is quick because DD is screaming for a feed but im hoping someone will answer my question first, she has white spots on her tongue which i presume is thursh but i haven't got it as yet, should i feed with a shield on????
You can, but I don't know how much it will help as mum and bub are a symbiotic relationship - if bub has yeast overgrowth in her mouth, then mum has yeast overgrowth in her gut, therefore its hard to know if you get nipple thrush from your own overgrowth or from hers. You'll need to treat yourself with a probiotic as well as treat DD's mouth, and make sure you give your nipples some air afterwards.
Hi,
It would be unusual for mothers to get thrush, even if baby has it in his mouth. Thrush is in the atmosphere and on our bodies all the time - mainly our immune system fights it off. Get the spots in his mouth checked out by your health nures - it may not be thrush - and just keep breastfeeding as normal
