Just keep bubba feeding off you, is he best way to boost your supply, breastfeeding makes milk. I hope your feeling better, it's never fun being sick xoxox

Woke up Friday morning (after DS1 woke during the night vomiting) with a very dodgy tummy that resulted in a few bouts of the runs, and extreme nausea all day, I wasn't able to stomach food, and only managed a couple of glasses of water all day. Next day wasn't as bad, forced myself to eat lunch, dinner and lots of water. Today I've forced myself to eat breakfast, lunch & dinner and had HEAPS to drink.
How long will it take for my milk to supply to return to what it was Thursday?
I'm getting so dishearten... I'm having to top Oliver up with expressed milk after every second feed now (Friday it was only once, Saturday was twice) and I'm not getting as much when I express, I thought today would be the day I'd see some improvement in my supply. He's almost spending twice as long breast feeding. I'm still only feeding him on one side while I express off the other due to damage.
Please shed some light... this issue with the pain just makes me wonder why...

WHy do you think bub needs a top up?
Your supply will change at different times but if bub keeps feeding, your supply will match what he takes out.
You can always ring the ABA on 1800 686 2 686 if you want some advice.
take care
He doesn't settle after a breastfeed, and his sucking while on the breast changes, doesn't sound like he's swallowing any more and no matter how much I try to massage my breast to bring more milk down it doesn't seem to come after the first attempt, and then I get too sore to continue (his tongue tie needs to be snipped and causes me pain) and his suck seems stronger over the last few days.
Maybe once you notice that he isn't sucking and swallowing after a while of been on the boob. Take him off, burn change bub wake up a bit and the. Try again. He might be getting a bit too tired.

How's that dodgy nipple going?
It is possible to only feed from one side, but the breast has to get the message that more is needed. If you offer topups then your breast won't make more (does that make sense). I presume though, that the topups are expressed from the other side? So each feed you feed on one, then topup from the other...?
Expressing also gets harder after the initial engorgement subsides - you may be at that point now.
I normally change him first to wake him for a feed but I might try leaving it until he slows down. Thanks.
The nipple is getting there thank goodness. Yes the express is from the left side which is from the feed before. So it's like he's getting both side at the feeds where the right isn't giving him enough.
It's quite normal to have both sides at a feed (well, some babies do, some don't), so maybe that's all it isEither way, so long as he gets enough. I hope your nipple is back in action soon, wil be easier for you to stop pumping
