I agree your determination is inspiring and she is lucky to have you as her mum!!
I wish I knew more about tongue tie but was lucky not to have those issues. At least everyone is learning something from this.

CHN rang today. We are going to start using the sheilds full time to help Summer try get her attatchment & sucking right. Hoping it'll train her to curl her tongue around the breast the way she should be & make it a little harder to try & get her to work at the unbreakable seal.
She's going to loan me a pump so I can keep up my supply & make sure I don't get any blockages while we are using the sheilds.
Off for weigh in tomorrow to see how we are going

Another 100gm week, not bad. I think we're having a growth spurt as well.
Sheilds aren't going so great. I think she's feeding even less! She gets in, has a good feed for a bit, then realises it feels different & starts to bite/chew on the sheild!!
So I'm using them, but not every feed...

Just making sure if I don't use them her mouth is open & lips out as much as I can get them.

She's still gaining well hun. Great stuff!! What are the nappies like? Many babies feed very efficiently at that age, finishing a feed in 5 minutes or less. Is it possible that she's just finishing more quickly now?

Yeah, she probably is.
Nappies are good. She's getting enough, coz she's happy afterwards, just doesn't like the feel of the sheilds in her mouth if she's not too hungry to realise. So any extra feeds I try to give, she won't take with them. But she's started waking through the night the last 2 - 3 nights from about 2am rather than 5, so she's getting at least one, sometimes 2 extra feeds through the night.

I would have thought 100g is a good gain too!! mmm this girl is a tough one.

Good gain, and sounds like at least the shields are helping you, even if she doesn't like them. What's the plan from here?

Yeah, we're doing ok.
I've given up on the sheilds. She's really not liking them, lol.
Just curling her bottom lip down myself before attatching. Her tongue still isn't out far enough, but I'm hoping she works that bit out for herself somehow

I think I'll go see the chn again on friday & see if she still thinks the OT will help. I'm not sure anything will help that though. Her tongue is not over her bottom lip & I can see that. I think thats where its all wrong. Thats why she's loosing suction every time & probably how the cracks are happening, coz she relatches & if I'm not careful with how I hold her I think thats when the cracks are happening iykwim?

I would think this probably will resolve as she gets bigger, but in the meantime, it's not much fun for you. Hope there's some help with an OT.

Yep. I've been sitting there poking my tongue at her, getting DS to do it too for a couple of weeks, but not as often as I could.
Will do that to see if it will help, while I wait patiently for her to get bigger...
