We just did the same thing, somehow it all worked out.
Here's what we did
We negotiated with the buyers of our house to have access until 4pm
Settlement on our house was at 11.30
Settlement at the new house was 12.00
The removalists came at 9.30 and started packing
We had a few hiccups with the removalists, the truck was too small and broke down but we got there.
You can negotiate with the removalists to pack you up the day before settlement, leave all your stuff on the truck overnight and unpack you after settlement. Usually suits them if you have a lot to move, might cost you a little bit more.
Thanks ladies.
I'm a bit weary of leaving my stuff on the truck overnight. But thanks for the idea though Nickle.
So tomorrow -
speak to convenyancer as to possible/confirmed settlement times
speak to my selling agent who will speak to new owner about having access til about 2 hours after settlement.
Geez. This is also panicky stuff. Just the way i like it....not.
Not sure if it's the same in all states but I think here in WA, you have until midday (or COB?) the day after settlement to move out and handover the keys.
I'd be seeking consent to be out by the day after settlment. You may be able to put in a special condition with a nominal amount of rent for that one day.
