Real estate agents may not have any rights to make you pay for wear and tear but they sure like to push you into it if they think they can get away with it.

One of the rentals we moved into, the previous tenant had to pay to have the whole house repainted because they used a magic wall eraser on nearly every wall. The paint quality was crap and left the white undercoat showing through. I have been really careful with them because I did see some of the walls before they were repainted and it was not good.
