hi stangelk - i had a c section with my son and found it amazing. the nurses spoke to me and DH constantly to keep our minds off of what was happening on the other side of the drape. when the ob took DS out, they lowered the drape so we could see him. the spinal needle hurt a little bit but was tolerable at least. i was in recovery for around half an hour and found the nurses there great too. i felt funny having had to have a catheter in and nursed washing me and cleaning me up down there but they were so great that i soon forgot about that. i had a pca (patient controlled analgesia pump) where i could administer my own pain relief until the next day which was great. overall, the pain was tolerable and bearable and i recovered so quickly.

Thanks Teresa! TBH I think the catheter is one of the main things I feel anxious about..............

TBH i ended up just being so nervous and excited that in only a short time i got to meet my little man. if u focus on the fact that soon u will have a little baby then u dont think about that stuff

they put the catheter in after the spinal, so you wont even know its happened unless they tell you they are doing it

But i had a catheta put in for my first labor because my bladder was absolutely full to the brim, and it didnt hurt...felt a little strange but its not painful

My best tip is to go out and buy two packs of those big cottontail undies, about two sizes bigger than you'd normally wear. I found my other undies sat right on my scar and rubbed against it, but once I had these I was so much more comfortable because they sit up past your belly button. You'll feel like Bridgette Jones but who cares!

I've had two c-sections and both were really great experiences, enjoy your little baby it's such a special time!

you really do feel like you are in good hands when you have a c-sect...lots of people fussing over you and telling you whats happening the whole way

come back and let us know how you get on.
