Hi all. When I have bub #3 I will be delivered by csection no later than 37 weeks. Can anyone please tell me your experiences delivering this early mainly regarding bubs health and any breathing issues experienced. It really worries me that bubs will have problems breathing if born this early.
I'm delivering by c section tomorrow (Thursday) at 36+6 due to a few things, IUGR, low amniotic fluid, increased umbilical dopplers. Not much help to you right now, but I'll be able to let you know more tomorrow. Dr thinks that even with these problems, baby should be fine, it's only 1 day short of term
Dd2 was born at 37 weeks, she was fine no issues with breathing at all but had to spend a few days in the scn as I had gd and they monitored her she came home at 4 days.
Some babies at this gestation will need a little extra care, depending on the reason for the CS, but in general and as others have said 37 weeks is term so as long as your dates are correct then bub should be fine. Good luck
Ds2 was 37+5 He wanted to sleep a lot. His sucking reflex wasn't very strong so together it made him hard to feed. I use to rouse him every 2-3 hours for a feed otherwise he would sleep longer and be over hungry and it would go pear shaped fast.
They are alittle smaller and not as chubby as 40weekers but in summer its not an issue
I wore him for months. Found it was best for both of us.
Update from me as promised, my bubba, Ava, was born today at 36+6, weighed 6lb 4oz and got apgars 8 & 10. She had no issues whatsoever and fed like a champ as soon as we got to recovery! I was all set for potential feeding or breathing problems, or for her to be small enough to need special care, but she has not left my side apart from snuggles with family.
It is so variable, depending on circumstances for delivery, but baby can definitely be 100% ok, and I wish this for you and your bub
Congrats frog!!! Fab news and I hope you are both doing well thank you for all your replies. My ob said that next time he would give me steroid shots 2 days prior to ensure bubs lungs are set to go and that this should be fine at delivery. Just wanted to hear some real life experiences xo
