Elective C-Section Due To Damaged Tailbone

Hi Danielle,

So glad to hear everything went ok! I bet you were scared out of your wits, but its all over now.
Im 99% sure I will have a c-section, just need to discuss a few things with my ob next week. I pretty sure its the right thing to do for me and bubs. Havent had a scan done but i have a feeling this baby is going to be a biggin for the fact im only 7 months along and already i feel like it doesnt have enough room as im getting kicked in the ribs and hip bones constantly!!!
Ill let you know for sure what my decision is after next week.

Well ladies its all over and done with and everything went well. Adam Craig was born at 8.59am Friday the 20th of June. He weighed 7 pound 13 ounces and was 52cms long.
The c-section was a little nerve wrecking but everyone was very nice and supportive. It was such a lovely experience for my husband who got to bond with Adam while I was in recovery. Was a bit painful the next day but everyday got better and better. Now i have to keep reminding myself that i had c-section and slow down so i dont end up with a hernia! Thats probably the worst thing about it all is that i cant do what i want to do e.g lifting stuff.

Adam is a fantastic baby! All he does is eat and sleep! He also sleeps between 5 and 8 hours a night and pretty much has since we brought him home.

I have a question for you c-section ladies....Under my scar is a hard ridge. Is this normal? Does everyone get that or am i over doing it?

Firstly congrats on the safe arrival of your little boy Adam and I am glad that the c section experience went well for you.
I have had 2 c sections and although the scar is bigger this time around I dont have any raised areas over or under the scar area. It could be how they stitched you though as every doc has diff method and my scar looks better this time than the 1st time.
I would keep an eye on the wound to ensure it doesnt open but just ask doc at your 6 week check up

Thanks Deancey For Your Well Wishes And Info. The Scar Looks Really Good From The Outside But Just Feels A Little Hard Underneath The Line Where Its Cut. I Had One Long Stitch That Came Out In One Big Pull. As You Said Maybe Thats Why It Feels The Way It Does. It Doesnt Look Like Its About To Open Or Anything But Ill Keep An Eye On It.

I dont have the answer's but it sounds like you are difinatly working it out and looking into all your options, the reason that I wanted to write is that when i was reading your thread it sounded just like me haha. I too broke my tailbone in my first pregnancy (thanks to my df and a motorbike!!) and i too understand how painfull it is. Also i too take clexane in pregnancy due to a previous blood clot in my first pregnancy, and i have to say that i found just worriying about that and the posible things that can go wrong is very scary. good luck with your labour and im sure your baby with be beautiful and healthy no matter what descion you make.

I've have been reading your thread & I am glad things worked out well for you & congragulations on your son.
My DS came via the emergency exit in March & I they stitched me up with 1 long disolvable stitch. I did notice a hard ridge just under my scar & figured it must be from where they have cut & stiched me up internally. It is not so noticable anymore so I figured it was normal, if you're not sure ask your GP/OB at your checkup.

BTW make sure you give yourself some extra & TLC as you have just had MAJOR abdominal surgery. Hope your recovery is going well too...

Congratulations on the arrival of little Adam. I am so happy that your experience was a positive one! Hope your scar is behaving itself! I didn't get a hard ridge with mine but I agree with Njd, it's probably quite normal.
