Cathie hunny you know I had a c/s with DD3 and I was petrified but it turned out to be a beautiful time for us with some firsts thrown in. I was so scared about the spinal (different to an epi) but the only thing that really hurt was the local they put in firstI had the same midwife from prep to recovery to back to room so I felt better knowing that I had someone there who had spoken to me about what was going to happen and walked me through everything. They also heard what I wanted and made it happen.
My dr was fantastic. I was on the table and we were chatting and I said "you can start now" and everyone laughed. He told me they were nearly ready to birth her lol. They did rug her up first before bringing her straight to me but it was cold in the theatre. We even had a spare midwife who was taking photos of the whole c/s for usWhen I was taken to recovery the first thing the midwives did was unwrap her and put her inside my gown so we had our skin on skin time. She was left there until she did the boob crawl and had a good drink. Two things that were firsts for me so made the birth unique.
Out of my panic and terror came something so beautiful and the memories of it still make me teary.
You have nothing to worry about my luv. If you start to get panicky then talk to your midwife. She is your advocate while you are in theatre and recovery. After your hold your new little man (or lady lol) you won't worry about anything. Much love to you hunny xxxx
