I know Marydean had an amazing c/s birth, very calm and peaceful - I can't remember if she posted her birthplan or not now it was that long ago LOL. I am super happy for you that you've been able to make this decision hun I know it wouldn't have been easy.

It still hurts that I have to do this, but I think it's much easier on me than the alternative. Gosh that sounds selfish, but y'know what for once I need to look out for me first & this is what I have to do.

Gosh no! Not selfish at all. I can't blame you at all for not wanting to go through all the hoo-haa again.

*maz slaps Sarah in tha face* not bloody selfish at all woman.

As a mum we always put our kids first....but I think this time you need to do what is right for you so you can enjoy this birth and not stress about something that you may not be able to control.

    Remember...happy mum happy baby hon

Why is it selfish? It's your birth sweetheart, you've got to do what you think is going to have the best outcome.

I know that I wouldn't want to have to recover again from a really long labour and a cs with complications, especially not now that I already have another child to care for. And like I said, I'm lucky in some ways that the choice is out of my hands, but if I did have the option to try for a VBAC my decision whether to do so would be weighted by my understanding of what it's like to recover from a cs after long labour, and what I personally felt was the likelihood of that happening again.

Although it is still a total 'rock and a hard place' decision, I suppose that at least this way we can make our cs births as much on our own terms as we can, which is much harder to do with an emergency cs.

I was thinking this morning about this and I know that some of them have already been metioned but just wanted to add.... one thing that I would want is baby to choose his/her birthday (there is something romantic about baby choosing their own birthday I think ), but I suppose you may have to fight for this. Another would be delayed cord claming, I know that most c/s this does not happen, I wonder if baby can be placed immediately on your chest, I know that c/s baby's are at a much higher risk of needing breathing assistance, but there is no reason they can't do that while on your chest.

Another is I would go by the latest edd possible, I stalked your chart, Sarah and I reckon you can give yourself another two days May not seem much now, but it may be important come baby time.

    xx

Oh and I agree you are being selfish but in all seriousness, your birth is all about you!! This is how you have chosen to give birth and you have no reason to feel guilty or any need to justify your reasons.

Tan we managed to have Juliette's cord clamping delayed so I don't see why they can do it this time as well. With my chart are you looking at CD16, that's what I'm going on? Not that there was much info on there I kept forgetting to add stuff, seeing as I wasn't technically charting at the time LOL!

Really? (re the edd)... So many edd calculators give different edd... I found FF's to give a day earlier than every other.

ETA... Sheesh.. BB's gives you a EDD of the 11th!! wonder what it gives me....

ETA more... helps if I put in the right dates!!! It shows the 9th if I put the RIGHT dates in. I am such a derr! LOL

I wrote a CS birth plan last time along with a VB one..CS birth plan came into play!!!! This time if I end up having another CS...gee I envy the decision you have made..ever since I was offered another VB attempt i have had an ongoing struggle with what option to take??? I will be making a few changes, last time I got excattly what i asked for this time I will be asking for a lot more, just reading more threads etc.

Last time I got to see Poppy as soon as she was born, then they took her for those first checks ..I got to hold her approx 5 minutes after birth, she was completely wrapped which made it difficult, this time I would ask that i got to hold our new baby girl skin to skin. Dh cut the cord and we were allowed to video the birth, except Dh forgot to push record!!!! Poor boy, he copped it for that, so i will be asking for that this time as well.

Poppy and Dh never left my side, while i was being stitched up and in recovery..just perfect!!! I was'nt aware of anyone else in recovery, i am not sure but I am thinking there might be another special area they have set up for exactlly this reason? We BF in recovery, again perfect.
Dh got to stay for as long as he wanted, they will set a bed up for him if they are'nt super busy and if I don't have to share a room...

They offered for the screen to be dropped but I felt really sick and was'nt up for that or a maternally assisted birth, it does'nt interst me this time either..last thing I want is to feel sick all of a sudden and then miss out on the things that are more important to me, because I am sick.
So this time: I am asking to be able to go into labour hopefully it will end in success, if not at least baby got to choose her own birth date..If this is not okay..as close as possible to EDD.
Holding baby skin to skin straight away. Dh cutting the cord, birth filmed, its about time I got to see one of my babies be born!!! Stiches verus staples..OUCH..apparently my local hospital has gone away from staples, so no issue there. If i want to go a bit further away hospital wise, the OB will allow me to have an additional birth support person there??? Both of them there for stiching up and in recovery, first BF in recovery and then DH to stay with me the first night at least, i seem to have an anxiety issue, I am not sure whether that is the drugs??? being immobilsed??? hormones?? or a combo package..but I feel a lot more comfortable if DH is helping me with bubs, than relying on nursing staff...I have always had the midwifes help me shower etc, but this time will get DH to help with their guidance, i have always felt really uncomfortable and embrassed, not sure why???
Wishing you the best of luck...I actually wish i could just book in for the CS..life would be a lot simpiler..(DH and family would like me to, for lots of sensible reasons!!) you obviously have come further than me on that front.. i still feel a lot of guilt and failure by just booking in (my thought process!!! this might just be the one???unless you try you never know)..but am staying open minded..you just never know what might happen toward the end I might just have come to terms with it!!!???
Not to meation going through the summer heavily pregnant, might just be the nudge that I need to make the booking.

Good job deciding on what is best for you my love Its a hard decision to make.

I wouldn't choose staples again either, I recovered much better with stitches, but I think its up to the actual OB to choose which is their favourite closure - thats what I've found anyway

I hope you get everything that you want - definitely write up a plan and let them know your desires. Are you going to be going for a maternally assisted c/s? Have you considered that?

I'm so stoked that you are pregnant again - you make such gorgeous children!!!!
Hi, i'm due 9 Oct 2010 and when we had my ds last april ob said that if we have another it will be a scheduled c/s as ds was emergency cs due to obstruction. I'm ok with scheduled c/s but have a couple of q's

arimeh- what is maternal assisted c/s
mamapspice- can't find your thread on maternal assisted/empowered c/s could you send a link??

and how far along do you have a c/s is it 38/39 weeks? and how long before do you finish work?
