I am trying fir a VBAC for this preg but I know there is a chance that I could require another c-section. I bounced back very well after DDs c sect but I am wondering if it is the same for subsequent sections? I am concerned "IF" I need another that it will be a harder / longer recovery and I will have a 2 yo and new born as well.
Would love to hear your experiences!
I bounced back really well after my first CS, the only 'trouble' I had was lying flat in bed when I got home as I had been sleeping elevated in hospital. You will be happy to know that I bounced back even faster after my second CS, I checked out 2 days post CS and as I layed almost flat the night after my sugery I didn't have a problem with sleeping, I was off pain killers by the time I left and I had only had minimal amounts prior to leaving, I believe that walking does the world of good, get up and move around as much as possible!
Hun, I had a 'c/s like' surgery to remove a massive fibroid in 2009 and I recovered very well after that (the cut was much bigger than a c/s cut) and then when DS was conceived they told me another op was on the cards as they didn't want my uterus to tear during natural labour. So I had a c/s and I recovered very well again after that one. I guess some people find a c/s a bit hard which is totally understandable as it IS major abdominal surgery, but I found the operations pretty good. Apart from not being able to get up for a day, and the slight pain you get from the first time you get out of bed, it was honestly OK. The more I moved around the better and I had plenty of meds which really helped. GL what ever you do!
My recovery after my second one was hard, i got an infection in my uterus and I was laid up for about a month. But up until that struck, my time after the c-section was better than the first, my body didn't seem as shocked by the surgery and wasn't as painful
I bounced back really well no issues at all, I even got to a room with a double bed that could not be raised and no monkey bar to help move the next day as I was moving so well with no issues. When I got home DH was back at work rather quickly and then away interstate when DS2 was a few weeks old, I had DS1 who was 18 months and not walking to care for as well.
Physically I found it harder, but that was because I didn't have any issue the first time and tried to push myself much harder than I probably should have.
But the section itself wasn't a shock like the first time and I wasn't so anxious with the 'process' IYKWIM?
My second recovery was much better and faster than my first - I think my body knew what was going on and I just adapted (of course I claimed that I was unable to do anything that remotely resembled housework for 8 weeks )
Thanks ladies. Even though Bellas c-sect was an emergency it was still a pretty good experience. I was up the next day and never looked back. I was home on the morning of day 4 without any drugs needed anymore.
I guess I was wondering if it was worse after a second one.
I pray fir a VBAC this time around but I'm far less scared now.
I've had two c-sections 9 months apart and after the first one i bounced back and was up and about within hours and even driving and cleaning within a fortnight. More to do with the fact i was so excited to get out and about to 'show off' my new bundle of love.
With my second one I bounced back pretty quick but the scar and area was no where as neat and i'm left with a permanent muffin top
But i was still up and moving and driving within a month. I had to I had a 9 month old to look after as well. But in relation to the driving i took the whole 5 weeks as I found the strain from lifting and looking after bubs 1 was just a little bit too much.
