Has anyone here had 4 Caesareans?

I am going to be having my forth in March, there is only a gap of 4 and 3/4 years between my first and forth, no my ideal but our of my control. I am hoping there is someone as crazy as me on here that has had 4 and is willing to share there experience.

My previous 3 have gone well and my recovery each time really good, getting easier each time but it still makes me nervous.

Not me but a friend who used to be on here. There was 6 years between t and J but the others are all very close in age. J is 6 next Feb e is I think 2? And t2 is 1 in dec so 3 in 5 years? She has recovered better each time.

Not me personally but I have nursed lots of people who have and more. The most been 7 over 13years. The ladies first 5 were uneventful but complications for number 6 and 7 due to the amount of scarring. As a midwife I can't remember caring for anyone that encountered problems with their 4th but 1st and 2nd and if you have had a normal recovery with the last 3 I can't see why no4 would be different. Alot of women have their tubes tided with the 4th at Drs advise but many dont and Ive seen plenty of women go on to have more then 4 c/s. Good luck with it all.

    My sister had 4 - 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Her recovery got easier each time and she didn't have any issues.

Thank you so much Mildez, it is worrying me for obvious reasons but I tell myself that the first 3 were uneventful so this should be the same. Although I do not plan to have my tubes tied (I don't think I could do that to myself) I do plan for this to be my last, a 5th seems a little to risky to me although this is an uneducated opinion. I have been told that my scar tissue looks fantastic so that is encouraging I will ask again when I am being stitched up this time (just in case).

ETA, thanks Mel I love hearing positive personal experiences, I vaguely remembered you saying in the past that your sister had a few close together.

Me! Im having my 5th next Friday actually. 1st was 15 years ago, then a big gap-8 years, then one, another 15months later, then another 2 1/2 years later, now this one, 3 years later. I havent had any problems (Apart from the fact Ive had to have c/sect.... never my choice ) Never had problem getting preg. Im not looking forward to this one, not because Ive had any complications, just because it does render me a bit useless for a while, and I hate that! I WILL however be looking forward to the stay in hospital..... Ive got 4 kids at home!!!, theres no way you can send me back there I'll scream!!!
I only have one scar, but talking with ob a while ago, he said that he will just cut through it and then Ill have 2, but Im not happy about that, so Im going to be pushy and stick to my one scar if I can......
um... anything you would like to know in particular?

A GF of mine had an emergency cs the same time I had my first. Then elective for the next three. All our kids are the same age. She talks extremely positively about her births and recoveries

I had the same response, especially after my last, my doctor came in the day after the surgery and asked where the new mother is, when I said it was me she did not believe me as I was apparently to upright and quick to have just had a CS. I hope it goes as well this time

DD talk to your ob about your concerns and maybe he can address them from a medical POV. You do have higher risks with each subsequent c/s, but if you are well-informed and the pg is going well there is no need to believe any complications will happen to you and your baby.

From what I understand, most of the risks are associated with the scarring. If you've avoided complications for the others and all looks good on your scans, maybe your scarring is minimal.

Talk to your ob. I know i've only had one c/s, but my ob was able to say from u/s last year that my scar was barely visible it had healed so well. Made me feel much better about 'risks'.

Are you preparing a birth plan for this c/s? It might give you more control over the process and help you feel more connected to your baby's birth.

That's the thing Jennifer I don't have any real concerns, it is just nerves really, I cannot pin point anything in particular.

If I am able to birth at our local hospital I will be sure to write up a birth plan and let them know of my previous experiences and the importance to have my baby with me in recovery.

If I have to go the the city, well they know me well and my concerns, they did very well with DD3 after many complaints after the birth of both DD1 and DD2.

My big concerns are really surrounding separation from my baby, I have my 12 week scan on Monday, this is the scan that revealed all of my girls complications so a lot of questions will be answered then, if a miracle happens and baby is healthy then I will focus on having baby with me directly after birth and in recovery, if baby will need to go to NICU like my others my focus will be on visiting ASAP rather than 5-12 hours post birth. Having a CS just makes it difficult because of being restricted to bed (obviously), although with DD3 I did get up and into a wheelchair 5 hours post birth so this time around I know that this is the worst case scenario.

A lady I used to work with had 5 cesareans and all went well, she recovered well after each one.

Good luck Daintree, I hope all goes well!
