    Unhappy second c section?

I am currently 3 days past my due date, and am getting very anxious. I the midwife at the hospital clinic last week and she thinks I may have to have another c section. (My first was born this way due to slow progress of labour. My waters broke before labour began, and then two days later I had c section). Has anyone been through this before? I just need some support. I really wanted a VBAC but now it is not looking good...

Danielle, I don't really have any specific advoice for you as I'm hoping and praying for a VBAC as well.

Our DS was 42 weeks and ended in an emergency CS because of failure to progress and his heart rate was erratic. I'm so hoping I don't have another CS this time around so will be seeing an acupuncturist my OB recommended from 34 weeks to make sure this little princess arrives on time and it will also help with positioning as DS was posterior.

My OB said I can't be induced if I go over and seeing as DS was 2 weeks over I'm going to pull out all stops to prevent that this time. Apparently they won't induce you if you've had a previous CS.

Try all the usual techniques to get the ball rolling e.g. nipple stimulation and accupressure (google Debra Betts and acupressure and a great webite will come up). Then once your contractions have begun massage with sweet almond oil with Clary Sage essential oil added.

Good luck - sending you lots of positive VBAC vibes...

Why did the midwife think you would need another c-section??? A normal gestation length is 37-42 weeks so you are currently doing fine. 3 days over is quite normal and not a criteria for a c-section.

Try not to stress - the hormones released during stress are not conducive to a smooth labour. Have faith in your body - it can go into spontaneous labour and you can have the VBAC. Try to find a positive support person - are any of the midwives where you are supportive of your VBAC??

I wish you luck and a wonderful birthing experience

thanks both for your support and advice, even just your words are a comfort! I have been overly occupied with labour starting, so now I'm just trying to relax and take it as it comes. In the end of course its whats best for us both that matters, but I will look up that site you reccomend thru google krisp, and hope to share good news with everyone soon! Good luck all! Thanks again!

I am preparing myself for another c section, but I get to see the ob next wednsday which puts me 10 days overdue. But I have come to terms with that now, although I still have hope something will happen in the meantime! Fingers crossed! The midwife I saw yesterday tried to stir things up a bit with an internal (very uncomfortable), and mentioned I was a tiny bit open at the cervix, but it was still very long. Wait and see now!

HI. Both my girls were over due. Doesn't necessarily mean ceaser. Suggest your mid wife/ ob do a sweep of your cervix if thats not what she did. My gp did this for me. It still took a week, but with that & lots of walking it happened. Try walking & sex. They are both supposed to work wonders.
Did you try an induction last time? Ask about it. You might get lucky.
Hope it all works out. Good luck.
