thanks all yea it is just the skin layer that hasnt healed, I also heard that it would get quite painfull again if there was an infection is this right? I dont have any pain at all. I didnt know if i should be putting anteseptic cream on it or not?

FYM, I had a very long wound recovery from CS...and yes, increasing pain was the main symptom I had that there was infection involved. Even so, the third time it took a turn for the worse my GP ordered ultrasounds...they confirmed there was a "collection" of fluid sitting behind the wound. If your wound is still leaking an US might be warranted, in case the fluid needs to be drained, either to assist with your comfort or to allow the wound to close. If I were you at this point, I would go back to the GP for a review, and keep going back weekly under the wound is closed.

Mine would smell funky so I took to swabbing it twice a day with sterile saline, then using a hairdryer (cool setting) to dry the area. While a pad to collect the leakage is a good idea, you're better off getting some non-plastic ones designed for wounds as the plastic backing can keep the wound damp and cause it to fester. I also started using betadine spray - but only once the wound was closed - I did this because of the smell which persisted for a few weeks after the wound closed.

Re the overhang - if it continues to cause you problems (skin irritation, infections, fungal growth etc) you can get it tidied up surgically. You might find tho as your tummy tone improves over the next few months it might not be an issue for you.

I would be using betadine spray as well ,I have before and it made a big difference, also would it be worth having it dressed?? I think if it was an infection you would have pain, I had ongoing pain and weeping for 16 weeks with my DS it took about 8 weeks before the yucky stuff strated to come out but i had serious pain beforehand, everyone kept saying ti was okay and not having previous CS experience I just thought it was extremly painful op..until the yuck started then it was on to antibiotics. It started on the inside!!! Good luck with it.
