    Car servicing question.

My car is due for a service in just under 3000km. In about 3 weeks I'm going to drive about 2100km to get to Northern NSW and back.
Would you service the car early so everything is in good order for the long drive or leave it until after you get back?

I'd do it before because I always service the car before a big trip

We always do it before. It helps with fuel efficiency and to check out any bugs before we get stuck in Gunnedah or somewhere on Christmas Eve with no room at the inn and the mechanics have all knocked off for their holidays..... Or something like that.

It would depend on how often you get your car serviced and, how many kms it's done.

We get ours serviced every 10,000km so I wouldn't jump the gun on it, unless they had mentioned something that we should get checked at the next service.

Also, our mechanic is great, I've rung him up before with a question very similar to this and he's just gone back over our records and said that it should be fine as the last service was good and we'll still be well within our kms.

I usually get ours done before a big trip, but if you generally get yours done on time, and you have no concerns, I wouldn't worry about getting it done yet. You'll still have 900 odd k's on it, so it'd be fine!

Definitely take it in early. We are going away in January, only 2hrs drive there and back LOL but my car has gone in today just to make sure it's all okay. Has been running a bit rough anyway.

When we went to Armidale back in april we brought the car servicing forward by a few 1000 kms too just to be sure everything was OK before we left. 3000kms is hardly here nor there in terms of servicing.

    Car servicing question.

Depends when you last had it serviced and if you have one of those fancy European ones that only need servicing every 2 years.

If I didn't get it serviced I would take it to the tyre shop and get them to check the pressure etc.

Thanks. She's booked in on Monday. I'm a stickler for servicing by the book so maybe I could let it go but I liked the better fuel efficiency concept.

Now DH wants to take his car because it can carry more and get onto the beach more easily. That is true but my car is more comfortable and has DVD players which are a very effective means of sedation for the boys on long journeys.
