I've had an early 60s VW Beetle (love of my life) and a mid-70s Mercedes 280E.

The Beetle was my passion...Dad bought it for me and we did her up together. She was in PERFECT condition inside and out. Not 100% orig conditon, but a beatiful car. The only thing left to do when we could afford it was a shiny new paint job, but the paint she had wasn't bad considering her age.

Mum sold her when Dad died when I was 19 and I am still not over that.

The Merc was the most comfortable car I have ever sat in (except for the racing seats in the Beetle lol) but needed a lot more work than a full time uni student could handle (as I was at the time). The guy who owned her before me did a home job on the electrics...so flick on the indicator and the windscreen wipers would start and etc. The electrics were so muddled that the dash lights were always on and would constantly run the bettery flat...so you had to disconnect the battery whenever you parked her. Which was good becuase it meant I never had to lock her.

Apart from the electrics, she was in good condition and totally road worthy...I just didn't have the time or money to see an Auto Electrician...so she got sold to a couple who have since restored her and is looking great.
