HELP ME please

OK I am the worlds BIGGEST MORON

I needed PETROL , I knew I should have got some yesterday but didnt realise after the light came on it was a matter of 5kms before Id be in trouble.

So the incline on my driveway was the problem with no fuel, such a DUMB thing to do and it cost me $20 to get the neighbour to go buy fuel for me, the jerry can , and DS's day at preschool which is not only money wasted but my sanity stretched, as he was whinging to go to preschool for most of the day,

and I had a million things I NEEDED to do Without Him ( prenatal appt missed and bloodtests , IHR GD test and just a few more things, as he is a handful at the shops lately...

Now he is asleep and I am completely worn out... And have to wait a whole week for time to do these things that I need to do

But alteast he helped me make choc brownies whilst we waited for the neighbours
Cooking now....

blame Pregnant Brain, Placenta brain whatever. You are coping with so much right now, moving house, hubby's health problems, being pregnant with a toddler to care for at same time, running your household, of course things are going to go off the rails sometimes. remember all the things you ARE getting right, you are doing a great job. You just have SO MUCH on your mind, so yeah, the EMPTY light for petrol, didn't register with you. I'm so glad for you it was only that, and not a dead car/expensive repairs etc.

having Roadside Assist is a very good thing to have, if you have a car on the road. i would not drive without it. Cos i would be totally stuck, if anything happened to my car and i couldn't dial up Roadside Assist. The amount of time i locked my keys in the car when bilby was small (!!!). I drive old bombs so am very grateful when the Roadside Assist van rocks up and saves me. i have no idea who else i would call otherwise. My car conked out on busy intersection when i was three months pregnant.

Im pretty good with cars , Dad is a car nut and taught us everything, I only did a self service on it over a week ago to save me money...

So I can change a spare tyre, fix a battery and even diagnose most problems ( I have never been wrong so far and picked about 7 things that have gone wrong with this car alone) so Im usually OK. Oh and can POP a window or door no worries

But this had me stumped, Ive always had level driveways and never even let the petrol light go on, but cheap skate me thought I could leave it til today when it is cheapest to get petrol.... Lesson learned

Scared the crap out of me thinking it needed repairs, not just the $$ but being stuck with no one to help me with hardly any food at home etc, would have been an expensive taxi trip.

Atleast I didnt call NRMA to come I would have felt like a bigger idiot wasting money on them for $15 petrol... thats all i put in for it to start ... filled up a bit more though $40 doesnt get you much though these days....

Yep, I've often had driveways with a slight incline and unfortunately it does mean that whatever is left in the tank can't get into the fuel lines so said car won't start. My 2005 Mazda has been known to do it too.

One trick I did discover if your driveway is long enough or has a flat bit at the bottom is to let the handbrake off and allow the car to roll slightly down the incline then try to start it when it's a bit more level. Usually it will start and have enough fuel in the tank to let you limp to a local servo.

But it is a lot easier to not push our luck and just fill up when it needs it - even if it's just $10 till prices come down.

I'm a bit hopeless with putting fuel in my car too, so don't worry, you're not the only one that does that! I didn't see this thread earlier, but I am glad that you had an easy solve.

WOw, how fantastic to have those skills, your dad did you a huge favour teaching you those skills, that would be fantastic to know how to do all those things. (save money too).

i was going to say ignition module, my senator did the same thing when i was reversing, but i just read more on your post to see it was petrol!
