Small Cars/Hatchbacks - Do the back seats fold down?

We are looking at buying a 2nd hand hatchback. One of DH's criteria is that the back seat must fold down to make the boot space bigger. Cars that I've been looking at are
    Suzuki Swift 2006-2009
    Mazda 2 2007-2010
    Mazda 3 2005-2007

    Does anyone know?

Have owned a few small hatchbacks all of them the seats do fold down (sometimes not dead flat but enough for moving stuff around) can't comment on those models but I would have thought quite rare for them not to. Have had Ford Fiesta, Renault Cleo, Toyota Coralla, Nissan Micra (all in Europe but can't imagine would be any different). The one thing I find useful in small cars is having a split rear seat so you can fold down one bit not the other (very handy if have child seat) - most have a 2 and 1 configuration so side and middle, and then the other side folding down separate but some might have it in three.

    Mazda3 and Mazda2 are both 60/40 split.

It would be worth checking as different models will do different things. Why does DH want more boot space? Is your other car small as well?
If the seats arnt folding completely flat sometimes you cant fit longer items in the boot as they will hit the inside roof f the car and you cant manove them enough.

not one of the models you're looking at, but we have a 2009 Toyota Yaris - the back seats fold almost completely flat and there is surprisingly a huge amount of space

I have a 2005 Mazda 3 hatch and yes, 60/40 split fold rear seats that do fold down close to flat. You can also remove the rear parcel shelf (it just clips out) which opens up the boot a lot more as well. I've had all manner of weird crap in the back of mine at one stage or another....it's quite good in that respect. Not sure I'd get a 44 gallon drum in there like I did with my old Barina though
