Does anyone know once you have bub and then go to Centrelink and fill out forms, how long after this does it take for your payments to start?

the standard time frame is to have them finalised within 3 weeks, and payments take two days to reach you, so the hope would be 3weeks, 2 days (working days) and it would be in your bank - worst case scenario

this may not happen if you don't provide everything requested, or complete both the paper form AND the online/over the phone info - in this case, your claim would be deemed not effective - so make sure you do both bits! (if this is second child and you're already getting FTB fortnightly, you only have to submit the paperwork)

Lol I find it quite amusing that they say the baby bonus is to help 'low income earners'... I wouldn't consider someone earning just under 75k in 6 months low income! when our baby comes my dp will be working and makes 40k annually...and we get by just fine!
Im annoyed its not a lump sum anymore, as our only car could've benefitted from a service and new tyres/brakes (to make it safer and more reliable, being our only mode of transport while bubs is here), and im a good saver so the rest would've been rationed by myself, but I think its good for those who would more likely blow it on a TV or something not at all related to thier baby....just my 2 cents on the topic
