BG I have a question regarding tax and centrelink. My DP has done his tax already through e-tax and I was on centrelink online and his income is already there in the family income 2010-2011 actual income column for your partner! This is in record time, and probably an obvious question but does this mean ATO have already sent centrelink his actual income(as in have done his tax return?)?? I am so confused as to why one day later his actual income is there...maybe I should feel grateful that its been looked at so quickly!lol
I did my tax 2 days ago with etax and noticed tonight that my actual income was up on my centerlink online services! I just completed DF's tax so fingers crossed it wont take long to come through as well. Any bit of money at the moment is going to help us with our wedding.

Ok I'm confused. I just called to find out my ppl figures cause I have been told I need them for accountant.

This is where I'm lost. I asked her what I had to do on my return to work and I told her I knew I was going back in Sept for 2 days I just don't know my hourly rate as yet. She said as soon as I do to call and update my income but not advise my return to work till I actually go. Does that mean they will decrease my payments even though they don't have my date yet?

BG please help me surely I'm not that dumb

you had a question?? i've just read back through the thread and can't see one anywhere - did i miss something?

Kylz - there are a few different things you need to notify - it's very overwhelming

FTBA is based on your combined income with DH for the WHOLE financial year - so you want to notify of income as soon as possible

FTBB will be "quarantined" from the end of PPL or paid mat leave, through until your return to work - meaning you will get the max rate of FTBB for that period - you need to notify of your return to work (including employer) when that happens for the quarantine to be put in place

if you don't notify of your income until you return to work, you will get the higher rate of ftbb until you go back BUT, you risk an overpayment of FTBA. if you notify your expected income NOW, you will get a lesser rate of payment for the whole year, and any quarantine period will be paid in a lump sum at tax time. if you can afford to survive without the extra payments now, it is advisable to advise of your full year income now. if you wait, you will have a pretty dramatic reduction in your payment on your return to work as the system will automatically reduce your payment to try and counter any potential overpayment before tax time

does that make a bit more sense?

Yep thanks BG i think the new estimate will only be max 3k more than what they have now so hopefully it wont change too much.

What is the go with the new CCR? Is it means tested and if so how and what's the Max level and income
