whether you're eligible or not, they still have to supply you with the receipt - it's not up to the kindy to decide if you qualify - that's up to you to research. they will have provided the receipt to everyone

My question is regarding the Family Supplement for Family Tax B - that payment says "per family".

How does that work, when there are step children living separately?

    e.g
    X had Child 1 with Y
X had Child 2 (bilby) with me

in both cases, the children live with their mums.

so with regard to Family Supplement for Family Tax B - per family
is that spilt in half for each child?

(The family tax A part of the family supplement, is for each child, so very straight forward).

no, you will get full supplement - the only way it's reduced is if there is shared care (so if your XH had more than 35% care of Bilby, you'd have to share with him - both for part A and part B)

i've said "family" because it's probably the term most people understand best when talking on the phone - basically if you are in receipt of FTBB you will be eligible for the supplement

thanks BG, X had 28% care of bilby, as she stayed with him 2 nights per week. That put me at 72% care of her.

With his new job, that will change to one night a week, then two nights per week the alternate weeks. so 3 nights per fortnight.

I am hoping the CSA phone line will be easier to get thru to, than the FAO / CL phonelines are, so i can advise them of that.

Quick question, as from next month I will be working full time and DP staying at home. All the family tax benefits are in my name, do I need to put them in his name?

no - you just need to change the estimates to reflect your correct incomes

because ftb is a FAMILY payment, it can be paid in either name - it's actually better (less messy) to keep it in the one name all the time unless you change july 1

if she went onto youth allowance in March, you will get a partial supplement for her (726/365 x number of days from july 1 to the day before her bday)

Hi BG, just a quick question about Child Support. My ex is overseas (England) so I don't receive anymoney from him despite having an assessment in place.

Am I right in thinking that come reconcilliation time Centrelink will get told my CSA that I haven't had anything and I'll get a bit of a top up of unpaid FTA/FTB to cover the fact my assessment was based on me getting the money from the idiot ex?

    Thanks,

    Fi

yup as long as you are on CSA collect not private collect

and it shoul only be ftba and rent assist, ftbb is not impacted by child support

Hmmm, she didn't go onto anything.... I just lost a chunk of FTB A.
    Should she have?

Yes she should have gone onto Youth allowance.
My DD was also 16 in March and she receives $212 a f/n which is payed into my account.
She works so she has to inform them of the amount she works each f/n.
BG can probably help you more.

    not necessarily
if you completed the review and requested to keep her on ftb, she would still be on there (and you would get full supplements for her)

at the moment, you get a bit over 200 a fortnight for a 15 year old - that drops to 50 or just over for a 16 year old (so would explain a big drop in your payments) - it also means the earnings yourself or your partner have impact the payments for other children much more, and may reduce payment more than just her reduction

come january, this all changes (but we haven't had training yet, so i'm not going to try and explain it here lol)

not all kids go on Youth payments - it is based on parental income and is mostly only beneficial for very low income families - once you go over a certain level of income, it is actually better to keep them on FAO payments as dependents. from january, there will be no youth allowance for under 21's (i think - maybe 18) unless they are deemed independent (those already on youth allowance will stay there)

    Sorry I didn't realise that.
I didn't realise that you could keep them on FAO payments...they cut me off as soon as she turned 16...or do you mean only from Jan?

I'm confused too... I didn't realise I had the option to keep her on FTB?
Or actually.. maybe I did... that is the $50 /fn I currently get for her, I am guessing, just not the full amount I [i]was[i] getting. So yeah, that would be right.
(As a side note... I was peeved that it was such a big drop! Cause, they get sooo much cheaper once they turn 16 but I had heard that it would be reinstalled in January.)

    Thanks BG
