Devon - it's a one off payment. So unless your bub arrives before 8th of December (and we don't want that to happen) and you are entitled to FTB part A you wont get it.

Anyone on a low/middle income with lots of kids has just got to be loving this announcement.

Sushee - I agree with you completely.

I know the feeling well. Brock was due July 3 and of course the baby bonus was going up on July 1. Of course he arrived June 23 so we missed out on the extra money.

Sush, we're in the same boat as you - even though I have the luxury of being a SAHM our income is still pretty good. We're (DH and I) convinced that the Govt doesn't want us to do any better than what we already are and is subliminally forcing everyone into a quasi-caste system (Can you tell I love conspiracy theories? LOL).

Honestly, this is all Bull****! Has anyone else noticed how conveniently close to Christmas that this payment is being rolled out? Just in time for everyone to blow the lot on crap we don't need. But I'll be honest and say that if Kev is going to give me $4k I'll take it and stick it under my matress for a rainy day.

Satya - thanks for that. Bit of a bummer, but never mind. We certainly don't want bub arriving before December 8th!!

Kitt3n - hope the unit gets you over the line before the 8th!

Sushee - I can imagine how annoying that would be hun, when you're working so hard.

as a single mum I truly apprciate all the tax payers..

Without them this money wouldnt be avalaiable to help me out.

Now i truly would love not to rely on the government but unfort i have no other choice in my current situation

I just hope that people spend the money wisely.. they have gone to all this effort to spread out the maternity payment to prevent silly spending.

i personally will be putting the majority of my payment away.... (minus a new fridge as mine is very tempremental)

I assume it would apply to age pensioners as if you are on a single parent pension then you would already get the money for the children you have.

So true trillian - abolishing the middle class! And upping up our spending to rise inflation to bring interest rates back up.

    found this quote

The package would apply to all categories of pensioners and carers and was equivalent to about $35 a week for single pensioners, and $26 a week for each member of a married couple.

But why should you get it twice just because you get a pension and have kids? From what I can work out you either get it for each child or you get it if you have a pension - which is why they have the different categories in that first post.

sherie i was thinking the same!!
isnt it because the economy is slowing tooooo quickly? this will push spending back up again, to help stablise inflation, something along those lines!! but great timing so everyone spends it in retail!

  18. #54

It will be in bank accounts the first pay you receive after Dec 8th.

Oh Lulu I didn't think of buying a WII !! Great idea LOL.
