Hmmm... I'm paying off the rest of dh's Xmas pressie and not sure what i will do with other $800. It will probably just get spread out over Xmas- travel, bills, etc. Juts be nice not to have scrimp on everything and live like we used to, pre-baby, for a month or so
I'm with Niliac on this one- it's a big picture thing. And this is the only time in my life I won't feel guilty about spending $1000 instead of saving it!!

rego tip.. We used to have it due in january so we opted to pay it for 6 mnths which took us to August then we went back to yearly..
Good idea Nic but we don't have that option in NSW, it's a full year or nothing

clearing the last of my cc that is killing me in interest
    clothes for the kids
    new school uniform for DD1
    VCE books
rego for one of my cars to be sold early next year
    Xmas pressies

Sorry KRudd, I'm loving you for the $$$ but its a matter of survival for my little family right now....

mmm... we are using ours for Matilda's Occupational Therapy she desperately needs prior to starting school. That is unless they give her a diagnosis, than the goverment will help pay for early intervention, but in the meantime... OT appointments and swimming lessons for Matilda. Jovie's will be divided into our savings & the girls savings for the future.

hubby is talking a big plasma tv (so we can hand back our rental tv and save $10 a week)
and i want a new couch! (so the rest will go towards that) it will be nice to have more than just a 2 seater to sit on here... i'm sure our DD will appreciate not having to sit on her lil kiddy couch that she is quickly outgrowing....

Not getting ours until we do next years tax. So no idea what it will go on then!

I think if they wanted the money to be spent, they should have just given it to 16 yr olds. Giving it to families is a bit silly, coz majority will be sensible and pay off debts.. not spend it! Altho.. i guess the psychology of having extra money is still there, so the possibility is that with debts that bit more paid off, people will still buy something for themselves somewhere along the line.

I don't understand why they discriminated with families needing to be eligible.. just hand out some money to everyone and get them to spend it!

LOL discrimination is not letting people join a Golf Club because of their race or refusing to hire someone because of their gender.

Whilst I don't agree with the methods of distributing this particular handout I don't think that refusing handouts to our wealthier citizens counts as discrimination....
Why on earth should my taxes subsidise paying a bonus to the likes of the Packers or Hewitts?
