Okay, so you've all been there with my vents, my crying, my frustration with Matilda. You have all supported me in ways I truely needed and will continue to need over time.
SO its my pleasure to share some good news with you all. Please join in our celebrations tonight.
Matilda today had a developmental assessment from a developmental paediatrician, and had an auditory assessment.
She passed auditory with no hearing issues. WOOT!!!!
The paediatrician was extremely thorough, listened to everything I had to say & wrote everything down. Discussed the notes from a year ago. Watched Matilda, spoke to Matilda. Did some tests on Matilda stacking, and developmental assessments. Then she said the magic words, "Your daughter is doing really well, she is not on the Autisic Spectrum at this point in time, she does not have ADD, ADHD. She is definately quirky, and has sensory issues, but she is not Autistic & she is too young to identify her with Aspergers, but I don't think she would be there at all".
The thing is, I've been researching all this stuff for a while. Since the milk allergy we have seen huge improvements in her behaviour and development. Sure, her sensory issues are still there. No one is denying that, but at least its just the sensory issues. I knew it wasn't the others, but you get one person mention Autism and it sticks in your head, and its a horrible label. Its such a huge spectrum, you could label me autistic if you tried....
So my instincts going in today were yelling at me "She's not autistic, its sensory" and I came away with the confidence in my instincts. So the next assessments are in September for OT, Speech Pathology and Physio. These are the ones that will be more towards what is going on with Matilda. OT's generally deal with the sensory stuff so thats great.
